I am a medical doctor with a passion for writing.
As a fiction writer, I am an Australian Society of Authors and Copyright Agency 2020 Award Mentorship recipient, a 2019-20 Four Centres Emerging Writer Program participant and was longlisted for the 2017 Richell Prize for Emerging Writers for my historical fiction manuscript, ‘The Taste of Red Dust’. My short story ‘Waiting Room’ was the 2009 Medical Observer Short Story Competition WA Winner.
Creativity and health, especially where related to writing, is a particular passion and the topic of my blog.
My thirty-year medical career has focused on general practice/family medicine, health communication especially across the Hospital/GP interface and e-health, and health system improvements. Please note that I am unable to respond to requests for medical attention or advice via this website.
I acknowledge the First Peoples of Australia and the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation who are the traditional custodians of the land on which I live and work, and pay my respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, as well as to other indigenous people throughout the world.
